This month I was thinking about what to write for my first column. What ground breaking fitness and nutrition secrets should I reveal for that great body. Then I decided I’d dedicate this month’s article to what it all really comes down too, and that’s YOUR mind-set
So you want a flat stomach? A shapely bottom, to have boundless energy and of course you want to look good naked…
Yes it is about eating the right food and committing time to regular exercise and I will be giving you my top tips of how to get to that perfect body over the course of my next columns but the first thing that you need to work on is what’s in your MIND keeping you from getting there.
Let’s address that negative little voice that keeps chipping away, you know, the one that fixates on every little imperfection as you stare at your body in the mirror.
“Look at my big bum, my muffin top, wobbly bits and cellulite, let’s face it, I’ll never get that toned stomach, great boobs, and pert bum, like the cover models in the magazines”
What if, for just one second, you shifted your focus away from your perceived flaws and focused instead on the fact that you are pretty bloody amazing?!
Let me tell you something…It’s ok to LOVE yourself. In fact it’s a good thing. Yet probably the hardest battle you’ll ever have is the one you’ll have with yourself.
So next time you step out of the shower take a look at your body and admire the good bits and tell that negative voice to take a hike.
That’s the first step towards the right mind-set the next is telling yourself that you can get that dream body if you WANT it enough. As my Grandma used to say, where there is a will there is a way!
Of course I want it, I hear you say…but do you really? Do you really want it enough? Your body is capable of anything, it’s your mind you need to convince.
What do I mean? Well take this time of year for example. Most people have great intentions, join a gym, give up alcohol, start a new diet …six weeks later, and you get the picture. We’ve all been there before…
I’m too busy, I just don’t have time for the gym.
Work is too stressful, god I need a drink to unwind.
I’m too busy to find nutritious healthy food I’m just going to grab a mayo clad sandwich and a muffin (it’s a skinny one, so that doesn’t count right?)
Excuses! These are just excuses because you just haven’t committed yourself to a healthier lifestyle, it’s just not important enough for you
I find my drive through focusing on a GOAL that for me is a body building competition. Knowing I have to pose in front of an arena of people in a bikini is enough motivation to make me stick to that training and nutrition plan, trust me! Fortunately, it doesn’t need to be that drastic. It’s your goal, something that will keep you on track. It could be anything from a 5k run to a marathon or to walk 10,000 steps a day. Choose something that’s challenging but will keep you focused.
So be happy with the way you are, or commit to a healthier you.
I can help you with the nutrition and training but only YOU can really focus your MIND on succeeding, so don’t give up.
Until the next time,
Love Sonya x
